Technical exploits :
Development of high-accuracy, thin-film coating tool for seventh-generation glass substrates for liquid crystal

Technical features:
  1. Thanks to Mitsubishi Materials’ advanced machining technology, width tolerance of a coating liquid discharge slit has been improved. In addition, Mitsubishi Materials has developed a device for continuously measuring the tolerance. These have made it possible to coat seventh-generation glass substrates for liquid crystal (about 2 meters).
  2. Materials has first put into practical use a slot die of 2 meters in length that meets users’ required tolerance.
  3. The tool contributes to cost cuts in bigger glass substrates making. In addition, the tool has improved value of a die with a cemented carbide slit, compared to a previous leading die made of only stainless.
